TONY BOWDEN 3RD DAN
January 4th, 2009 Posted in AnnouncementsA very special congratulations to T. Bowden on achieving is 3rd Dan / Sandan, well deserved.
This marks a triumphant period in T. Bowden’s Bujinkan career as he takes his position as the head of the Bujinkan Tengu Warrior Network’s Redruth Dojo that great step further.
Mr Bowden is known to be the longest serving Cornishman in the Bujinkan and greatly honours the warrior path tread not only by true warriors today but by the old warriors of the ancient southwestern Celtic tribes the Dumnonii and the Cornovii.
Mr Bowden, a registered hypnotherapist, has over thirty years experience in the Martial Arts. He has studied various oriental forms over the years from the Budo of Japan and the philosophy of China and Kung Fu. It is Tony who keeps things real. If the technique doesn’t work - discard it. If you can’t apply it in a real situation on the street and it doesn’t develop you physically, mentally or spiritually - discard it. Tony reminds us the roots of the Martial Arts are the knowing the foundations of truth, justice and peace.
A little known fact about Mr Bowden is his spiritual quest which has seen him participate in various charitable organisations as well as working as a counsellor for the Samaritans on their busy phone lines. Mr Bowden has also worked closely with the church bringing light into the lives of many.
Mr Bowden has seen Ninjutsu in Cornwall grow from its earliest roots many years ago when the Tengu Dojo first came to Cornwall under Shihan Alfredo Castan since then he has guided dojos all over Cornwall protecting Dr Hatsumi Sensei’s lineage of ancient Kobudo from those who would see it twisted and corrupted.
Warriors past and future we salute you Tony.
