KAMAE
The Kamae of the Bujinkan Martial System are very important in the application of effective Taijutsu. The term ”kamae” has no exact representation in the English language, like many Japanese terminology there can be many meanings to a word. The term “kamae” could mean posture, stance or way of presenting oneself but more importantly it means attitude or approach. Your approach to a situation and therefore your mental attitude is represented by particular kamae rather like body language.
So while we take it as a given that posture is important, especially in the application of Taijutsu, we must work on the synthesis between mind and body to perfect our kamae.
